10 Gigabit Ethernet

The 10 gigabit Ethernet is a type of technology that introduced a superiorly faster speed of data transfer. Originally published in 2002, and completely established in 2005, 10GbE was known to change the face of Ethernet standards. This new technology broke its own preceding 1983 record of 10 megabytes (10 000 000 bytes) per second rate with its own 10 gigabytes (10 000 000 000 bytes per second speed. It was even a hundred times faster than the then boosted Fast Ethernet, which transmits at the speed of 100 megabytes (100 thousand bytes) per second.

In the world of technology and communication, speedy transfer of data between computers is highly important. Unlike the known World Wide Web, local area networks (LANs) are closed and limited to only exchanges between a specific group of technological devices. You can generally recognize this kind of setting in working stations and offices of companies and agencies. And it would certainly be beneficial for these kinds of professional places to have speedy and swift servicing for their needed data and file transfers. Not only is this beneficial on the account of time management, but also very helpful in heightening the rate productivity because there can be so much more work done in a shorter span of time.
Fortunately, a technology such as the 10 gigabit Ethernet could cater to these kinds of needs. However, as great as it already is, 10GbE still evolves to suit the modernization of today’s computer usage. From its original 802.3 standard rating, over the years, 10GbE has continuously emerged into more intricate versions of technology. To date, the 10GbE has been made available in various standards 802.3ae-2002, 802.3ak-2004, 802.3an-2006, 802.3aq-2006, and  802.3ap-2007.Every conversion process undergone by the 10GbE centralized upon the improvement of its components like Fiber optic and copper cables.

Today, it is observable that businesses and certain offices are converting to the use or 10GbE technology. It is definitely unwise to reject the advantages of such fast and smooth speed in data transfer. With the high demand of our current all-instant lifestyle, it is indeed a necessity to engage into lightning speed services. And on an even lighter side, a 2007 research stated that 10GbE is also helpful when it came to conserving energy. Unquestionably, this technology of 10 gigabit Ethernet brought a wider spectrum of new electronic and technical opportunities to improve our lives.
