While ppc marketing can be extremely effective is can also be very costly. Advertisers may have to spend a lot of money beforw they find a profitable campaign. It is also possible for web owners to advertise of the search engines network of sites, the most popular being the Google content network. Again this can be an excellent method to drive large volumes of traffic to a site.

For maximum website exposure via search engine marketing is sensible to combine both organic search engine optimisation with paid search marketing. By using wordpress to manage your website you will no need to learn any complex coding, you simply write your post and upload it. What’s more Wordpress can be easily customised to suit your needs as you or your business grows.

Furthermore wordpress is also extremely SEO friendly. You have to do some customisation to make sure that it is friendly to the search engines but honestly it is very easy. If you are not aware already one of the most powerful ways of doing this is getting a high number of quality backlinks to your site. However building backlinks can take a lot of time and effort and it is extremely important to compliment your backlinking efforts with quality content. Furthermore you don’t just want to produce quality content, you want to produce content that is particularly relevant for your target keywords. This might lead you to the question,

How Do I Know What Content Is Relevant For My Keywords?

Well the good news is that your old friend Google has an excellent free tool that allows you to do just that. However firstly you need to go and perform a search in Google for your target keywords. Once you have done that make a note of some of the website that are holding the top positions and copy their URL. Head over to the Google keyword tool and then in the box labelled ‘how would you like to generate keyword ideas’ click on ‘website content’ and paste the url that you have just copied. Once you have done that make a note of all the keywords that the tool gives you. These are the keywords that Google thinks are related to that website.

Since that website ranks highly for your target search terms we can assume that these are the keywords that Google thinks is relevant to the keyword. Therefore logically all you have to do is load your site with content that is optimised for these keywords and you have a website that is super relevant in the eyes of the search engines. We recommend exporting the keywords into a excel spreadsheet and writing one article per keyword. Make sure each article is optimised for the keyword that you are targeting and make sure that you link to the previous article with the keyword of the previous article as anchor text.

Just to clarify that let’s imagine that you write one article and optimise it for the keyword ’search engine optimisation’. Then imagine the next day you write an article and optimise it for ‘website promotion’. In the article on website promotion try and include the text ’search engine optimisation’ and link that text to the article on search engine optimisation. This internal cross linking will dramatically help to improve the overall theme of your website. Remember the search engines are constantly looking to build up an idea of the theme website. Links are extremely important indicators to the search engines about theme. If you can link to the page you are basically telling the search engines that ‘hey this page is about search engine optimisation’, which in turn would be a topic that is relevant to your keyword. Apologies if this seems confusing for now just understand that the following method I have outlined is an excellent way to determine what content to put on your site.

There are many different types of website hosting packages available to the consumer, from free solutions to more costly solutions like owning your own dedicated server (or servers). A quality internet marketing company should help advise you on what solutions would suits your needs. However what many people don’t realise is that by setting up a free blog on wordpress, they are agreeing to terms and conditions which state that at any time Wordpress can close the blog down. Imagine how annoyed you would be if you had created an excellent site and really worked on creating content and driving traffic to it only for it to be taken away from you!!

Shared Hosting

This is a very popular type of website hosting that is arranged via web hosting companies. This is where a website is placed on a server with many other websites. This can range from a few hundred to a few thousand. The type of share hosting package you will need will depend on how ‘busy’ your site is, however shared hosting can be very inexpensive, starting as low as 5 pounds per month.

Dedicated Hosting Service

This is where a client gets their own server and retains full control over it although the client typically doesn’t own the server. Again whether or not your own dedicated hosting service will depend on your website needs.
As mentioned if you are just starting out make sure that you speak with your internet marketing company to find out exactly what package you will need. Typically though if you just have a small website, a quality shared hosting package should be enough to suit your needs.

So just to recap so far we have chosen a keyword rich domain name, we have bought a domain name and now we have set up hosting.

All you need to do to buy a domain name is go to one of the many domain name sellers and go through the process of purchasing one. There is nothing more to it. In order to find appropriate sites to buy domains off, simply go into Google and type in the keywords ‘domain names for sale’ or even ‘domain names’.

Should You Buy A .Com, .Net or .Org?

Ideally if you can try and grab the .com but if this is not available then try going for the .net or the .org. For some reason many people overlook .org but honestly is will not hamper your search engine optimisation efforts. If you want proof on the have a look at Wikipedia, this site occupies the front page for a plethora of extremely valuable keywords and this is .org. If it is good enough for Wikipedia then i guarantee its good enough for you! So really the process of purchasing a domain name is extremely simple but also extremely necessary.

It is our opinion here at PreciseInternetMarketing that choosing a keyword rich domain name, is good practise from an seo point of view. If you are building a business or a brand then you might want to choose a different name. However, if you are ranking a site purely for seo then always start by choosing a keyword rich domain name. Firstly we believe that keyword rich domain names carry inherent seo value in the eyes of the search engines. Although can’t say the exact extent, a quick browse through the search engine results pages, quickly shows that keyword rich domain names get preferential weight. One of the main advantages of having a KWRD is that when you get a backlink you are guaranteed to get your desired anchor text. If you are not aware already, the anchor text if your backlink is extremely important. The anchor gives a very clear indication to the search engines about what the website is about. The search engines rely on citation or votes from other sites to help judge what a site is about. If you have a large number of websites from around the web linking to you with you desired anchor text, which in this case is “web design manchester” then the search will start to rank you for that desired keyword. The great thing about having a keyword rich domain name is that you are guaranteed to get an anchor text link every single time.

A quick note about .com,.net and .org…

You may notice that there is some debate in the internet marketing communities about which extension is more effective for ranking a domain. We believe that it is best to go for .com, however if you can’t get the .com try and get the .net or .org, as these seem to be just as effective when ranking websites. If anyone tries to argue you with you otherwise have a look at wikipedia.org, probably one of the most powerful sites on the internet and occupies 1st page position for literally thousands of diiferent keywords. So if it is good enough for wikipedia then it is good enough for us!

For the purposes of this seo challenge we are going to target the keyword “web design manchester”. Now this is by no means an easy keyword but it should definitley be doable. Performing the inanchor intitle search command reveals that the the keyword has approx competition of 40,000. This means that there are approx 40,000 indexed pages with the keyword “web design manchester” in the title tag. It also means that there are over 40,000 pages that have the keyword ” web design manchester” as anchor text from an external backlink. Don’t worry if this confuses you , just understand that the inanchor search command helps to give a understanding of backlink building competition.

So far so good, however remember that is not all. Once we have ascertained the strength of the keyword it is now necessary to look at the strength of the websites occupying the top 10 position. In order to do this i recommeded installing a plugin called “seo quake”. This helps us to get a snapshot of the strength of a website for a particular keyword. Have a look at the following screenshot -

We can see that the website occupying the number 1 position has a over 30,000 inbound links. This is essentially strong citation/votes from other sites and it may be very difficult to remove from the first position. Having scrolling down we can see that some of the other sites don’t have anything near the following number of inbound links. With enough time and hard work, we could attract these number of links and look at beating the postion of these sites.

Now this is not going to be an easy task however it is certainly achievable, granted it might well longer than the 60 days we have planned for the challenge but it will be very interesting to monitor.

The strategy which i will use to get this site ranked will be explored in great detail. For now just understand that it will be a combination of creating quality content, firsly to help build up a picture of relevance to the search engines and secondly to encourage people to link to us naturally. While we keep adding quality content to the site we will also work on building up our number of incoming links. This will help to build our sites authority in the eyes of the search engines and will reward us with higher rankings. The combination of quality content and inbound links has proven time and time again to be a winning combination. We will reveal every single step that we take and show you precisely how we do it.

For example you really don’t want to try and optimise your site for keyword such as “SEO” “Search Engine Optimization” “Loans” “Mortgages” “Debt” “Real Estate” etc because you are going to have a very hard time optimising your site for these types of keywords. In fact unless you have a super huge budget then you basically have no chance at all. Because a little bit of digging shows us that these site have a huge number of links and a huge number of indexed pages. By the way a little tip there is an excellent plugin for Firefox that allows you to do this called “SEO Quake“.

So really you want to go about targeting keywords that you know you can get rankings on within a reasonable period of time without to much work.

Now there is no right or wrong way to go about selecting a niche. Many people have lots of different methods and there are some super smart people out there who have got it down to a fine art. In fact there is likely a huge number of underexploited niches out there, that are just waiting for you to take control of. The trick is to find a niche with a relatively stable monthly search volume without too much competition, now I am not going to say that this is easy because it isn’t. The fact remains though that there are a large number of niches out there just waiting for you to take control off. As you can see in the second video there are a number of different ways to go about choosing a niche. Here are some thoughts to get you started.
