So far in the search engine optimisation challenge we have picked a keyword to target, selected a domain name, bought a name and then sorted out hosting. Now that we have the basics sorted out, we are going to start building the site. In our experience one of the easiest ways to build and manage a website is via Worpress.org. All you need to do is visit Wordpress.org download the latest version of it and then upload to your hosting account. If this seems to complicated for you I highly recommend checking out Erics Tips website, specifically I highly recommend that you check out this post here.
Rather than me showing you Eric very kindly goes through everything that you need to do in order to set up Wordpress. He explains it very clearly and it really is an excellent resource to show you precisely how to do it.
Wordpress is honestly one of the best open source content management systems that we have come across and best of all it is free! By using wordpress to manage your website you will no need to learn any complex coding, you simply write your post and upload it. What’s more Wordpress can be easily customised to suit your needs as you or your business grows.
Furthermore wordpress is also extremely SEO friendly. You have to do some customisation to make sure that it is friendly to the search engines but honestly it is very easy. Once you have set it up you it is very easy to produce highly optimised SEO posts. Another thing that is really excellent about Worpdress (assuming you set it up correctly) is that the pages seem to get indexed extremely quickly. Many webmasters complain that their pages don’t get indexed however we have not found it to be a problem so far with Wordpress. Hence the reason that we will be using wordpress for our search engine optimisation challenge.
Just to recap, we highly recommend using Wordpress because
It is open source (i.e. anyone can download it)
It is Free!
It is very search engine friendly
It is very easy to use
It helps get your pages and posts indexed extremely quickly.
Be sure to watch the Erics tips videos to learn how to easily set up Wordpress.
So very soon we will be starting the serious work of showing you how to optimise a website for any keyword.
