How To Use Viral Marketing

One of the buzz phrases in internet marketing is viral marketing, and it has become a results-driven marketing method. Not only is it extremely cost efficient, viral marketing builds for the long term and when done correctly can gain almost unstoppable momentum.

What exactly is viral marketing? Simply put, it is any type of marketing programs that encourage the meaning of you sales pitch to be passed on from one reader to another – hence the description.
A common example in internet marketing terms is a viral eBook or report. To begin, you create an an eBook on a thing or two that people in your niche will want to read about, and then in the text of  the book or report you place links back to your related site or sites..  If your report or Ebook contains information of value it’ll be passed on because people will want to share it with other people. The website links or advertising included inside the report will be read for years and years after you first posted it.

Are there other sorts of viral marketing?
One of the hottest activities at the moment is viral videos. You only have to look at the success of sites such as YouTube to see the vast power of video as a way of marketing your business. The same principles apply to viral videos as viral reports – it needs to be items of interest that your readers will want to share with their friends. Videos which are amusing, funny, or thought provoking in some way tend to do well. You will need to get creative and post something website visitors will want to actually spend a few minutes watching.

One other form of viral marketing is using your email and your email signatures. Using free email services can be teamed with viral marketing programs to great effect.  At the bottom of every email sent through the service was a link back to where users could sign up themselves. This became very successful as more and more people used the service to send emails.   You can duplicate this by adding your link to the bottom of all of your emails, encouraging the reader to click back to your site.
To allow viral marketing to be as effective as is possible it is important to aggressively encourage people to pass on your articles. Make it straight forward for them to do so. If you’re creating a viral report, for example, a good approach is to include a sales page with the report. Other internet marketers can then plug it in and distribute it to their customers without having to do much work.
