Marketing Plan

Many people start an online business without ever consider the important of having a marketing plan. An online business is like any other business and the old adage ‘fail to plan, plan to fail’ is as relevant in the online world as it is anywhere else. The fact is when you set up a website you need to have a definite marketing plan which will focus how you are going to promote your business and essentially drive traffic to your website. You can write your marketing plan yourself or you can work with an internet marketing company to help draw it up.

Here are some question to consider when constructing a marketing plan for your internet business.

What’s Your Budget?

You need to understand right away from the beginning exactly how much you will have to start promoting your website. Your budget will essentially determine what type of marketing activities you can engage in. For example if you have a large budget you may feel that pay per click marketing is worthwhile. If you have no money then don’t worry there are many ways you have market your internet business for free. The only cost to you is time.

What the most effective form of marketing for your business?

This question is obviously in part determined by your budget (although not always) however you right from beginning you need to decide where you are going to get the biggest bang for your buck. For example if you are selling a relatively low value item, you might find that pay per click advertising it not cost effective, however for bigger ticket items it might. For example if you are selling an item which you know you have a 1,000 margin on then you there would be no problem in adwords if you spend 500 to make 1,000.

These are just a few thoughts for you, however just be aware that having a marketing plan is vital for your internet business.

To your massive success.
