SIP Phones – The Different Types You Can Choose From

SIP VoIP or Session Initiation Protocol Voice-over Internet Protocol is a highly beneficial form of communications technology that you can only take advantage of if you have a SIP enabled phone system or SIP phones themselves. If you own a really big corporation that has its own Private Branch Exchange (PBX), then you can do this from acquiring a SIP trunking service from a provider. But if you only own a medium to small business size, or even if you are only thinking of acquiring the SIP VoIP technology for your private use, then SIP phones are what you should opt for.

Then again, of the so many SIP VoIP providers all over the world, the production for SIP phones are unquestionably big as well. So among all the different structured and functionality, how do you know which one is best for you?

The first of the types is the SIP/VoIP soft phones (short for software- based phones), which conducts phone calls by means of connecting and using your computer’s microphone and speaker (or headphone) system. Some examples for this are the Xten phone and the 3CX VoIP phone for Windows. And then there are the USB VoIP Phones. These devices look exactly like real phones that you will have to connect to your computer through USB. Although they function mainly just like the soft phones, devices of these type have their own set of speakers and microphones to use. And then there are also the Hardware SIP Phones, which already have their needed hardware connections inside them. They also have their own networking features so you wouldn’t need much aside from your computer’s internet connection. They also look just like a typical household telephone, which makes it more efficient or users to operate and use them.
