If you own a website, then the chances are you want to know how to improve the ranking of your website in the search engines. This post will outline the vital ingredients you need to mix together in order to rank highly, if you follow this advice then you will be well on your way to complete search engine domination. However please note this advice is only relevant for today. No matter what any SEO company tries to tell you the fact is the nobody really knows the precise algorithm the search engine operate. Changes can be made at the flick of a switch and what worked previously might not work in the future. Any company that tell you otherwise are lying. Now the disclaimer is out of the way (!), here is what we think you need to do for total search engine domination.

Step 1: Tell The Search Engine What The Page Is About

This may sound simple, but believe me there are many website that are sending extremely mixed messages to the search engines about precisely what the page is about. How can you ever hope to get the page indexed and ranked for a particular keyword if the search engines have no real idea about what the page is for? So for example if you are trying to rank for the keyword ‘cheap picture frames’ make sure that you write cheap picture frames in the title tag. That way you are giving Google & co the message the site is about ‘cheap picture frames’. Add more weight to this guidance by including your target keyword in the description and keyword tags (still worth it) and put it in the H1 tag. By doing these small but simple things you making it very clear that your page is about a certain topic, which we believe helps the search engines decide what the page is about.

Step 2: Show The Search Engines That The Page Actually Contains Those Keywords

It fine telling the SE’s that the page is about your target keyword, but take it one step further and actually use the keyword your are targeted on the actual page. In this example we are attempting to rank for the keyword ‘cheap picture frames’, so make sure that is it used near the top of the text, throughout the body and near the end. Don’t whatever you do start worrying about keyword density as honestly this is a complete myth propagated by SEO companies and inexperienced people in forums. Always write for the reader and just sprinkle your target keyword throughout your page. As long as it reads well you will be fine.

Step 3: Reinforce The Keyword By Internal Cross Linking

So far you have told the SE’s what the page is about by writing proper title tags, using the description and keyword tag, hey you’ve even included the keyword throughout the page. You know want to do all you can to let the them know that the page is really about ‘cheap picture frames’ by linking to it from other pages within your own site (for a more detailed explanation please check out the post on the power of internal cross linking). By doing this you are really helping to reinforce the point that you page is about the keyword you are targeting. Remember SE’s rely on citation for information about the nature of a certain page. Use the power of your own pages to build up theme and relevance.

Before we venture into the most important step, I just want to recap this entirely logical method so far for complete search engine domination.

1.	Tell them what the page is about.
2.	Make sure the page is actually about that
3.	Reinforce that the page really is about that by linking to from other pages in your site.

Step 4: Attract ‘impartial’ votes from other sites that honestly, truly, absolutely confirm that the page is 100% about the keyword your are targeting

The final step is so powerful that if done correctly you can even ignore the first 3 steps and rely solely on step 4 (be warned this can be extremely hard work). Despite your best efforts to be an honest and truthful webmaster and give an accurate representation about what your website is about, the SE’s are always going to rely on other websites to vouch for you. After all you could be some nasty evil person…In order the vouch for you the search engines rely on links from other sites. The more links you have from higher quality domains (however that is defined) the higher you will rank, period. In fact this is so powerful that you can actually rank for keywords without having any on the page (as is the case for Adobe ranking for the term ‘click here’). The SE’s see links from other sites not only as votes for your website, but as guidance tools to ascertain the topic of the website.

So if for example Apple, Microsoft and The BBC are linking to your site with the anchor text ‘cheap picture frames’ then the search engines may reasonably assume that the page is indeed about ‘cheap picture frames’. Not only that but if these highly trusted are sites are prepared to link to you then surely you must be a good egg and surely we will put you on page 1. Of course there is a lot more going on there but we are sure you understand the underlying principles.

If you follow this formula then you are guaranteed complete search engine domination. You are making it extremely clear to the search engines about what your site it about and then you are getting references from other websites to confirm your site is about that and consequently you rank higher. Now if there are other sites in your niche who are following these principles, then the only way to beat them is to get more influential friends on side (think high quality links). Sooner or later Google, Yahoo or Bing will have to accept your own dominance and reward you with higher rankings.

To your massive success.

Getting SEO training can be the most important step you take in order to successfully market your business online. If you are trying to grasp SEO or if you have started implementing the principles but you want to see better results, then you may find that using an internet marketing consultant to help you master SEO can make a big difference to your search engine optimization efforts. Understanding precisely what SEO is should be the first step you take; followed by getting the training you need to apply the principles of SEO to boosting your site’s search engine ranking. Once you have these things under control, you’ll quickly see that they can make a big impact upon your online marketing results.

What is SEO?

SEO or search engine optimization is the process of improving your site and creating links with other sites so that you can achieve a higher rank in the search engines. This high rank can help you to attract a large number of potential customers who have a keen interest in the products or services you are selling. If you are successful with the strategies you implement to increase your search engine ranking, you have an essentially free option for online promotion. The beauty of this form of promotion is that you can create great results with just a little know how, once you understand SEO. With SEO training you will be on track sooner and you’ll be able to achieve a higher rank and make strong progress towards your business goals.

How you will benefit from SEO training

To achieve strong results from SEO, you’ll need to understand the different areas that are covered by SEO strategies. In simple terms, your site is analysed and indexed by search engine bots which use an algorithm to assess the purpose, content and usefulness of your web page. Based upon this assessment, your website is then placed in their search engine rankings at a level that the bot believes reflects the relevance of your site to particular keywords or keyword phrases. These are what users enter into a search engine. If your specialty is trendy 60s style lampshades, then an example of how SEO works would be if you successfully ranked at number one for the phrase ‘trendy 60s style lampshades’. That means every user who enters this phrase sees your site at the top of the list, which in turn means you’re going to receive highly motivated and interested prospects at your site.

What should your training include?

SEO is not a simple science and as such, there is no absolute right or wrong of how you should approach the process of search engine optimization. As a guideline however, the following are some of the things that you might want to cover first when you are approaching SEO training.

Optimizing keywords – This refers to using the keywords or phrases in a natural way and spreading them intermittently through the copy on your page.

Using page titles and header tags – These are a reference point that will help the search engine bot identify what your site is about. When you select and carefully implement keywords or phrases into these titles and tags you’ll be on your way to boosting your rank.

Selecting a suitable domain name – The domain name that you choose can be one identifier that helps to establish what the site is about. SEO training can help you understand what you need to do when choosing the best possible domain name for your website.

Linking pages on site – Creating internal links between the pages on your website you’ll be able to draw the search engine bots more deeply into your site, getting them to view a greater number of pages. This helps to ensure that your site is more fully indexed and you target the right audience more accurately.

Obtaining backlinks to boost page ranking – When you have a number of other sites that link to yours, particularly sites that have high page rank or are authority sites such as .edu or .gov sites, then you’ll fare better in the search engines. Getting support and SEO training will help you to secure these links to achieve a strong outcome.

Through a good understanding of search engine optimization and with SEO training to help you achieve the outcome you desire, your site can get a high ranking in the search engines. With this good placement in the search engines, you’ll get a greater number of highly targeted site visitors, ensuring you reach your business profit and sale goals.

To your massive success

Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO is a form of internet marketing that is targeted toward ranking highly in search engines. SEO internet marketing is about targeting what people interested in your products and services are looking for and optimising your site so that this targeted group find your site easily. An internet marketing consultant can help with this process, but it is important to understand why this is important and how this process works. By making changes to your website that ensure your site is indexed correctly, marketing to build incoming links to increase for targeted words and using various forms of online promotion, you will have a means to secure a large volume of targeted traffic for your website.

About Search Engine Optimisation

In the simplest of terms, SEO is about increasing the page ranking of a site through the fine tuning on and off site aspects that influence site position in search engines. This is done by targeting keywords that reflect the site’s subject matter and purpose. These keywords are carefully researched, so that the words that your target audience use to conduct searches are the words that your site ranks highly for. The higher a page ranks for the chosen keywords, the more people it is visible to and hence the more targeted those increased number of visitors will be. SEO internet marketing is about reaching your targeted audience via the search engines, so you have an audience that is more easily converted to buying, leading to an increase in sales and profits.

Keyword research

When you want to rank highly in the search engines, the very first thing to do is to research the keywords that your potential customers are using to find products or services online. This is important because if you rank highly for phrases that nobody is searching for, then you are essentially wasting your time. If you select keywords or a keyword phrase that is regularly used in searches that your target audience uses, then lots more of those people will find your site via the search engine results. This is what drives masses of motivated buyers and a relevant audience to your site, which is exactly what SEO internet marketing is about.

Implementing keywords for onsite SEO

There are lots of different aspects that you should consider when you are implementing keywords. On site SEO internet marketing is focussed on the placement of the keywords on the site. The keywords should be included in page titles if possible, keywords should appear in context in one header, they should be part of the domain name if appropriate and keywords should appear naturally throughout the text on the website. When the search engine bots visit your site, they analyse the content on the site using a logarithm which establishes what the site is about, then indexes the site so that users find it when they do a search online. If you carry out SEO correctly, then your site will be indexed more appropriately. That means that your target audience will find your site more easily as you rank more highly for the best choice of keywords.

Offsite SEO, anchor text and back links

SEO internet marketing requires that you rank highly in the search engines and are correctly indexed for the most appropriate keywords. Offsite SEO is one factors that influences how the search engine bots find your site and what their ‘introduction’ to that site is. Backlinks and anchor text are two important terms in offsite SEO internet marketing. Backlinks are links to your site from other sites. When you have numerous links coming from other sites, there is more opportunity for your site to be found by the bots. If the links come from other high ranking sites or authority sites (such as .gov or .edu sites), then this will help you to rank more highly. Anchor text is the text in which the link to your site is embedded. This anchor text can play a part in how the site initially is viewed by the search engine. If you sell pet food supplements and your target keywords are ‘best pet food supplements’, then having your backlink originating in anchor text that is the same as your keywords will help to boost your rank for those keywords.

Once you understand the basics of SEO internet marketing, then you can begin to learn more about how to implement these things into your website. With successful SEO strategies and the knowhow to implement those strategies, you will be on track to ranking highly in the search engines and being highly visible to a carefully targeted audience of potential customers.

At some point during your internet marketing journey, you may feel yourself wanting to ask an SEO (search engine optimisation) company or someone who teaches SEO the question:

“Why If you know so much about SEO, don’t you just build a website get it ranked no.1 for an extremely lucrative keyword such as ‘loans’ ‘car insurance’ or ‘real estate and sit back and count the money?”

After all, you may be thinking if a person or company claims to know so much about SEO surely they would be ranking for these types of keywords and surely they would be making a lot of money. This is an entirely logical thought and one I had when I first started to learn internet marketing.

In fact many of you reading this blog maybe thinking, why if I claim to know a lot about SEO don’t I get this blog ranked no.1 for the keyword (s) ‘Make Money Online’?

My answer to this is simple –

‘The fact that I do understand search engine optimisation is precisely the reason why I don’t try to rank this blog for a keyword (s) such as ‘make money online’.

Let me explain:

I feel I know enough about search engine optimisation to understand the time, money, effort and difficulty it would take to rank for a keyword such as ‘make money online’. Furthermore if I ran an SEO company and a client asked whether I could rank his website no1 for ‘car insurance’, I would advise that while with enough time and money I probably could, it would be far better to choose some other keywords to rank for with less competition.

I have mentioned that SEO is not complicated. There are only 2 elements to work on ‘On page SEO’ and ‘Off Page SEO’. On Page SEO is the practise of optimising elements such as the meta-tags, the h1 tags, the keyword density and the internal linking structure. On page SEO is easy and can be done relatively quickly. Once you have optimised a page for a certain keyword there isn’t much more you can do. Off Page SEO is the practise of building backlinks to your site. These can either be got organically, where other people are so impressed with the content on your site that they link back to you naturally. Or they can be obtained building the links yourself. It is also my opinion that Off Page SEO accounts for about 80% of search engine optimisation**

**If anybody wants to challenge this then please let me know. I would love to have a competition with someone else. We will target exactly the same keyword. You build a web page that is perfectly optimised on the page and do a tiny amount of link building. I will build a page that has minimal Onpage optimisation; however I will aggressively build backlinks to it. Let’s see which one ranks the highest…

If we understand SEO and understand how backlinks play such an important part in where a website ranks, then we can understand why it would be foolish when starting out to try and rank for a keyword such as ‘car insurance’.

As an example let me type the keyword ‘Car Insurance’ into Google, and let us have a look at the top 10 results. We can also use Yahoo Site Explorer to get an idea*** about the amount of backlinks these 10 websites have pointing to them.

***I say idea because it is my opinion that no search engine is ever going to reveal the precise number of backlinks a website has pointing to it. Otherwise we could essentially ‘reverse engineer’ its algorithm. For more detailed information please check out this excellent blog post from the team at Free Traffic System.

Keyword: ‘Car Insurance’

SERP’s (Search Engine Results Page) Backlinks according to Yahoo Site Explorer

1.	www.confused.com 43,505
2.	www.moneysupermarket.com/motor 226,687
3.	www.comparethemarket.com 19,343
4.	www.directline.com 86,852
5.	www.aviva.co.uk 19,622
6.	www.tescofinance.com 10,170
7.	www.churchill.com 11,287
8.	www.theaa.com 122,656
9.	www.esure.com 6,979
10.	www.gocompare.com 3,823

This quick experiment gives us some idea of the amount of work involved in trying to out-rank one of these companies. Just think how long it would take you to build 20,000 backlinks. Also remember that I don’t even believe that these are the exact figures anyway. It is likely that each one of these sites has 1,000’s more backlinks that aren’t even showing.

Furthermore I don’t have time to analyse every backlink for each different company, however you can be certain that a portion of those backlinks will come from some extremely high authority sites which will pass more SEO value. This is a topic in itself, however I am certain that some links pass more SEO value or link juice than others. While there are some SEO companies that can help try to get high value links and there are some tricks you can use to do this, in general it is far harder to manually obtain extremely high value links. E.G. I can’t just ring up the BBC or CNN and request that they give me a nice backlink with the anchor text that I desire!

So if we were doing some market research into the chances of ranking for highly for ‘Car Insurance’, we could conclude the following.

1.The sites ranking for these keywords have thousands or backlinks pointing to them.
2.That a portion of those backlinks are from extremely trusted and high authority sites.
3.Furthermore we can also see that websites ranking for the keyword car insurance are multi million pound companies, meaning that they can pay teams of SEO employees to work on constantly keeping their sites high up the rankings.

Thousands of backlinks, some from high authority sites with companies that have millions of pounds to spend on SEO = extremely hard time for us ranking.

As mentioned the amount of time money and effort involved in this is going to be immense. If you are just starting out in internet marketing you would be making a big mistake trying to do this. Not because you don’t have enough knowledge about SEO to know how to do this, it is because you know enough to realise the pointless waste of your time it would be.

So if in the future anybody challenges your knowledge of SEO and ask why you don’t rank no1 for ‘loans’ or ‘Mortgages’ then simply reply, it’s because you do know enough about SEO to know it would be a waste of time (initially at least, after you’ve made your first million on the internet then you can employ a team of SEO workers to target these keywords!)

So What Keywords Do You Target?

Unfortunately you are going to have to wait for another blog post, however I can tell you know that keyword research is the most element of any precise internet marketing strategy. If you get those wrong then your journey is doomed from the start.

Luckily for you I am going to give me opinion on selecting the right keywords. Making sure that you choose keywords that have relatively small competition but nice stable monthly search demand.

To your massive success.

In a previous post, I talked about the importance of link building for SEO (search engine optimisation). This is so important, that I feel I must repeat this one more time –

Link building or backlinks are the life blood of search engine optimisation. You must get backlinks to your website in order to rank well in the search engines.

We established that there are 2 main ways of getting backlinks to our website.

1.	Naturally – By producing quality content that encourages other websites to link to us.
2.	Unnaturally – By actively building links ourselves.

We also established the first method of getting backlinks naturally took a series amount of time and effort.

I therefore concluded that if you wanted to rank well in the search engines is was essential to start building links yourself. Before I continue let me just be clear. I am in no way against quality content. I would encourage anybody who has a website to always strive to produce high quality content. The problem is that if you spend a lot of time producing high quality content and wait for other people to link back to you, then you could be waiting a seriously long time before you move up the rankings. In the meantime your competitors will be overtaking you and you’ll miss out on lots of money.

Wait for people to link to you – Watch Your Competitors Overtake You

I started this blog to help people like you make money on the internet. I really want you to succeed. If you are intending on using SEO to drive traffic to your website then the reality is that must actively build links yourself. Of course if you combine quality content with active link building then you are giving yourself every chance of serious success on the search engines.

Now that we have that cleared that up, a question you may ask is,

‘Will Google punish me for building backlinks?’

Ladies and gentlemen I am here to tell – NO! Google will not punish you for building backlinks.

Now I realise that this information is contrary to what you may have heard in some internet marketing forums or from some other ‘SEO experts’. However it is my opinion that you will never be punished for building backlinks to your website.

How can I say that you will NOT be punished for building backlinks?

It is very simple. If Google punished websites for building backlinks then Google would have a serious flaw in its algorithm. In fact the flaw would be so serious then the whole fabric of the internet would be destroyed.

Let me explain.

If Google punished websites for building backlinks then I would be able to destroy my competitors extremely easily. Think about it, if Google punished websites for building backlinks then all I’d need to do is find my competitors websites and then pay someone to build backlinks to them. Sooner or later Google would punish them (by delisting them) and I’d get to number 1. In fact if there was a business I didn’t like such as Amazon, I just employ a team of people to build a huge number of backlinks to them and wait for Google to delist them. The whole fabric of the internet would completely collapse. Unscrupulous people could wipe out entire websites. See a competitor’s website at the top of Google, build backlinks to it and then wipe it out.

Now of course you know this is not how the internet works. Google is a multi-billion dollar company; they have shareholders to answer to. Why would they destroy the very thing that has made it so successful?

They wouldn’t!

Therefore it is totally logical to assume that you cannot be punished for building backlinks. Now of course the Google PR machine is always going to do everything it can to perpetuate the myth that you can be punished for backlinks. That way it encourages people to produce quality content and the web gets better and better. Remember the people who run Google are very smart, they know that they cannot punish sites for building backlinks because as I have just pointed out, it would destroy the very fabric of the internet. Google will never let you know this because it is in their interests to keep perpetuating this myth.

Doesn’t this mean that Google is open for exploitation?

Now you know that Google doesn’t punish websites for building backlinks, you may be thinking, doesn’t this mean that Google can be exploited? Surely if Google doesn’t punish websites for building backlinks then all I’d need to do is build backlinks to my site and I’d get up the rankings? If you’re thinking this then you are right!

This means that Google can be exploited!

You can build backlinks and you can get up the rankings. Now I know that this may sound like a dramatic statement, but guess what?

Most companies, businesses and people who do SEO know this!

People know that Google can be exploited by building backlinks and that’s exactly what they do. Those companies who occupy position 1 for competitive keywords have got there to some degree (I would argue by a large degree) through building links. They maintain their position at the top of Google by continuing to build links. Do you honestly think that companies who have got to the top of Google for extremely lucrative keywords such as ‘loans’ ‘Jewellery’ ‘Women’s Clothes’ have done it by doing producing quality content and waiting for sites to link back to them. Absolutely not! They have done it in some part by building links because they know it works and they know they will not be punished for it.

If you don’t believe me, as an experiment ask an SEO firm to prepare you a proposal for getting your website up the rankings for certain keywords. I absolutely guarantee that no matter what firm you speak to, every single one of them would come back with a proposal that in at least some part suggests a link building campaign. SEO firms actively recommend to their clients to build links because they know that Google can be exploited and that link building works. Smart internet marketers also know this. You as a smart person needs to understand that you will never be punished for building backlinks to your site because essentially you have no control over. So if you have a website and want to start getting up the search engines then start building backlinks right now.

Extremely Important Proviso About Link Building

I believe that you will never be punished for building backlinks to your website. However there is a smart way to build backlinks. You don’t want to arouse suspicion from Google and you want to make your link building look as natural as possible. There are many ways to do this, I highly recommend that you read this brief report,

Smart And Safe Backlink Building Guide

It is an excellent report that gives you lots of useful tips about how to make your link building look natural to Google.

It’s a blog post in itself but some quick tips include,

1.	Varying Your Anchor Text. If you have a website targeting “Dog Training” don’t only use dog training as the anchor text. Make sure that you mix it up a bit. For example throw in “How to Train a Dog” “Best Dog Training” etc, even throw in a couple of “click here” or “this website” to make it appear natural.

2.	Link To Other Pages Within Your Site – Don’t just link to the homepage, link to other pages in your site and consider linking to articles which in turn link to your site. You have to mix it up a bit to make it look natural to Google.

3.	Use your domain name as the anchor text – When other people link to your site, they are not going to always use the exact anchor text that you want. People may well use your domain name, so you must try and replicate nature and use your actual domain as the anchor text. They key is to mix it up and make things look as natural as possible to Google.

Even More Important Proviso – Please Read Very Carefully

While I believe that you will never be punished for building backlinks, I would suggest that you CAN be punished by Google if you choose to link to the wrong sites.

Make sure that if you decide to link to sites you are only linking to safe and respectable sites. Google understands that as a website owner, you have the power to decide who you are linking to. If Google finds out that you are linking to some nasty sites, then you may well be punished for it, as you decided to link to those sites. So please be careful if you do decide to link to other sites.

I hope that you enjoyed this blog post and I hope I have dispelled a common myth. For reasons I have explained,

You will not be punished by Google for building backlinks.

To your massive success,

Link building or the practise of buildings links is more commonly known as ‘Offpage’ SEO (search engine optimisation). To be absolutely sure you understand what I am talking about. A backlink is a link from another website pointing to you website. i.e. If I have a Facebook profile and put a link in my profile to my website that is a backlink.

Understand that link building is very, very important. You can spend a lot of time and effort creating the most perfect search engine friendly website but if you don’t have links pointing back to your site then you are going to have a hard time ranking well. If you decide to learn nothing else about SEO then, please at least take this away –

Link building or getting backlinks to your website is the very essence of SEO (search engine optimisation).

You must get backlinks in order to rank well on the search engines!

If you don’t believe me take Google’s word for it. In its webmaster guidelines, Google explicitly states that the position of where your website ranks is to some degree related to the quality and quantity of links that you have pointing back to your site. According to Google’s webmaster guidelines,

“Your site’s ranking in Google search results is partly based on analysis of those sites that link to you. The quantity, quality, and relevance of links count towards your rating. The sites that link to you can provide context about the subject matter of your site, and can indicate its quality and popularity”

So you don’t need to pay an SEO ‘expert’ to tell you about how to get up the rankings because Google are already spelling it for you!

Think of links like votes. Search engines have to have some way of measuring the importance of a website. If they see lots of sites, especially high quality ones linking back to a website they assume that that website must be trustworthy. The more links that you have pointing back to your site, the more votes you have and the higher you will rank. Which political party wins the election? The one with the most votes (well usually, assuming a democratic country and even then that’s not guaranteed!). Therefore it is absolutely critical that you work on getting as many backlinks to your website as possible.

So how do I get links back to my website?

The short and long answer is quality content. Google tells us that if we want to get backlinks then we need to produce quality content. This is taken directly from Google webmaster guidelines.

“The best way to get other sites to create relevant links to yours is to create unique, relevant content that can quickly gain popularity in the Internet community. The more useful content you have, the greater the chances someone else will find that content valuable to their readers and link to it. Before making any single decision, you should ask yourself the question: Is this going to be beneficial for my page’s visitors?”

If we produce quality content then other websites will want to link back to us naturally. And that makes sense, right? I’m sure you have experienced this. For example when I read a particularly interesting blog post, I might share a link to that blog on a forum or I might bookmark it at one of the social media sites such as Digg or Mixx.

The more quality content a site produces the more links it gets and the higher it ranks. If you get enough links from a sufficient number of really trusted and authoritative websites, then your site will naturally grow in trust and authority. This is known as natural link growth or natural link velocity.

We can therefore conclude that if we want to rank high in the search engines, we just need to create a seo friendly website and create content that is so interesting, people will link to us naturally.

There’s just one problem.

Creating quality content and encouraging natural linking can take a massive amount of time and effort. Of course I would always encourage people to create sites with quality content. However If you are intending on using SEO to drive traffic to your website (and you should be) and want to make money sooner rather later you are going to have to start building links yourself. Really link building is the most important activity to start any SEO campaign. If you want to rank quickly then you must build your own links. If you put in the time and effort to build links, then you will be picked up by the search engines and you will be rewarded by higher rankings. Higher rankings equal more money (assuming your product or offer is relevant to the searcher).
So now you know that you need to build links here are some tips on where you can build links from.

1.	Article Directories

Article directories are a good place to get backlinks from and can drive a lot of targeted to your website. Furthermore the articles themselves can get picked up by the search engines. However I would always suggest ‘spinning’ your articles, so that each article your submit appears to be unique content. As I understand unique content from different ip addresses, has more seo value than links from duplicate content.

Click this link here to find 100 article directories.

2. Press Releases

There are many sites that allow you to submit a press release for free and also allow you to include a backlink in the press release. Also press releases can get picked up by search engines, so can help to drive extra traffic to your website. You never know write something really newsworthy and could find yourself being talked about in national newspapers or radio stations.

Click this link here to find 20 free press release sites.

3.	Social Media Sites

There are hundreds of different social media sites and they can all help to build backlinks and drive traffic. If you manage to get on the front pages of Digg then you could potentially drives tens of thousands of visitors to your website.

Click here to see the list of top social media sites.

4.	Forums

These are great places to interact with other people and build backlinks. Although you must check the forum rules before posting links, as some have strict rules on posting links to stop spammers.

5.	Blogs

It easy to find blogs that is relevant to your niche and post comments on them. You’ll get a nice backlink and may drive some traffic to your website. Just make sure that your comment looks as if you have actually read the post. It is infuriating to blog owners to have constantly monitor and delete spam comments. Also try to find blogs that allow that allow do-follow comments (I’ll do another lesson on this but do follow means that link juice will be passed to you).

6.	Directory Submissions

There is some debate as to the SEO value of directories as many people argue that the search engines see directories as nothing more than glorified link farms. However I personally don’t believe that it can do much harm and may even help you drive some traffic. Just be aware of scams promising huge amounts of directory submissions.

7.	Local Business Directories

You can list your website on many local business directories which can help to get drive some traffic to your site.

8.	Friends Websites

If your friends that have websites, why not ask them to put a link on their site back to yours? If they are your friends then they’ll want to help you out.

9.	Offer content in exchange for links

You can offer webmasters content in exchange for giving you a backlink. Webmasters are always looking for fresh content and if you are a good writer then many will be happy to accept your content in exchange for a link.

Final word on effective link building tips.

There are 9 link building methods that you can implement right away. However I just want to mention that when you are building links you should always try to get do-follow links from highly trusted, highly relevant websites. Backlinks from websites with a high page rank (the higher the page rank, the more trusted and authoritative the site is seen in Google’s) that are relevant to your niche carry a lot of SEO value. If you don’t believe me, why not take Google’s word for it. According to Google’s webmaster guidelines,

“It is not only the number of links you have pointing to your site that matters, but also the quality and relevance of those links”.

Furthermore you should try and get a link within the actual text of the page. These are known as contextual backlinks (I’ll do another lesson on them). If you concentrate on getting contextual backlinks from highly trusted, highly relevant websites then you will get a lot of SEO value and you will be able to rank well.

Now, I’m not saying that this isn’t hard work because it is. If you product content that is interesting and compelling enough then overtime highly relevant, authoritative sites will link back to you. But as I mentioned this can take a lot of effort and time and you want to start ranking soon, so you can make money. So the alternative is to build links yourself or outsource the link building to someone else. One service that I highly recommend is Free Traffic System. Free Traffic System helps you get highly relevant contextual backlinks and best of all its free.

The guys running free traffic system really know their stuff when it comes to SEO. They have a lot of evidence to show that contextual backlinks from relevant websites help push up the rankings of a website. I strongly recommend that you sign up to Free Traffic System right now.
