Buying a domain name is one of the first steps when setting up a website. It is a very simple thing to do, so this blog post will not be long. Before you buy a domain name, you must spend some time on choosing a domain name. As mentioned in the previous post on choosing a domain name, it is highly advisable if you are launching a site purely for search engine optimisation SEO (i.e not developing a brand) it is highly recommended that you choose a keyword rich domain names. It is the opinion of PreciseInternetMarketing that keyword rich domain names carry inherent SEO weight, so they should be used when building a site purely for SEO.

All you need to do to buy a domain name is go to one of the many domain name sellers and go through the process of purchasing one. There is nothing more to it. In order to find appropriate sites to buy domains off, simply go into Google and type in the keywords ‘domain names for sale’ or even ‘domain names’.

Should You Buy A .Com, .Net or .Org?

Ideally if you can try and grab the .com but if this is not available then try going for the .net or the .org. For some reason many people overlook .org but honestly is will not hamper your search engine optimisation efforts. If you want proof on the have a look at Wikipedia, this site occupies the front page for a plethora of extremely valuable keywords and this is .org. If it is good enough for Wikipedia then i guarantee its good enough for you! So really the process of purchasing a domain name is extremely simple but also extremely necessary.

Follow up for the next part of the seo challenge when look at setting up hosting.

For Day 1 of the search engine optimisation challenge I am going to choose a keyword to target. Choosing the right keyword to target is essential for your internet marketing success. The fact is that if you choose the wrong keyword to target all your efforts will be wasted. There are simply some keywords that are very difficult to get ranking for (for a more detailed explanation please see my post on SEO Keyword Research).

For example you really don’t want to try and optimise your site for keyword such as “SEO” “Search Engine Optimization” “Loans” “Mortgages” “Debt” “Real Estate” etc because you are going to have a very hard time optimising your site for these types of keywords. In fact unless you have a super huge budget then you basically have no chance at all. Because a little bit of digging shows us that these site have a huge number of links and a huge number of indexed pages. By the way a little tip there is an excellent plugin for Firefox that allows you to do this called “SEO Quake“.

So really you want to go about targeting keywords that you know you can get rankings on within a reasonable period of time without to much work.

Now there is no right or wrong way to go about selecting a niche. Many people have lots of different methods and there are some super smart people out there who have got it down to a fine art. In fact there is likely a huge number of underexploited niches out there, that are just waiting for you to take control of. The trick is to find a niche with a relatively stable monthly search volume without too much competition, now I am not going to say that this is easy because it isn’t. The fact remains though that there are a large number of niches out there just waiting for you to take control off. As you can see in the second video there are a number of different ways to go about choosing a niche. Here are some thoughts to get you started.

1. Google Trends
2. Amazon Books
3.Yahoo Answers
4. Google Keyword research tool

Have a look at these tools and see what sort of things that people are searching for. You may be quite surprised at what it is people are looking for.

Tomorrow I will reveal which keyword we are going to target.

Enjoy!!

Hello everybody,

Seen as everybody wants to to know how to do search engine optimisation I thought that it would be a good idea to show people precisely how to do it. So what I am going to do for you is pick a keyword and take you through step by step how to rank the site for a particular keyword. I estimate that it will take about 60 days to do it properly but it might take longer. Anyway you will see what is it that I am doing to get the keyword ranked for that term.

I will take you through the step by step process of registering a domain name, building a website, uploading content and getting it ranked in the search engines, you will be able to see precisely how it is done. By the end of it you should have an excellent idea of how to perfectly rank a website for a keyword. This will be very friendly to those people who don’t understand how to rank a website and will give you an insight into how the search engines work.

You should get a tremendous amount of value out it and it should rely clarify how things work for search engine optimisation.
